This is an event that will long remain etched in our memories. Meeting Dr. Jill Biden—former First Lady of the United States, educator, and social activist—was not only an honor but also a powerful source of inspiration. Her visit to the RiO Edu Centrum symbolically confirmed that the mission we are pursuing has international significance.

On August 6, 2025, RiO Edu Centrum had the honor of hosting Dr. Jill Biden, who visited Poland for the first time. The visit took place as part of the TOP CHARITY ChangeMAKERS 2025 event – ​​an initiative connecting the worlds of business, art, and social action.

Support for women and children in the spotlight

During her visit to Poland, Dr. Jill Biden chose the RiO EDU Center as one of the first stops on her itinerary. This is a tremendous honor for us and a confirmation of the importance of our mission. The Center was established after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine as an educational and psychological space for women and children from Ukraine. In its first year of operation, we also focused on supporting the mental health of children and youth at risk of social exclusion, including those in orphanages. Dr. Biden engaged with our community, listened to the stories of our clients, and saw firsthand the daily work of our team.

“Being a teacher makes me such a strong believer in the power of change. Every day, change happens in the classroom. Knowledge grows and awareness expands. And suddenly, things that once seemed impossible are within reach, ” said Dr. Biden. ” The problems around us are often enormous, but none of us can fix the world alone. We simply have to do what we can.”

These words were particularly moving for us – they reflect the meaning of what we do every day at RiO Edu Centrum.

Education is the foundation

Meeting Dr. Biden was not only an honor for our team and the students but also a confirmation that education is one of the most effective tools for social change. Her visit highlighted the importance of creating safe, supportive spaces where every child—regardless of background and experience—can develop their talents, rebuild a sense of security, and build hope for the future.

This unique meeting became the impetus for further action – even bolder, even more focused on the needs of our community. It showed us that what we do locally has the power to impact globally.
